Petitions of My Heart has selected collections of poems and short quotes written by the author in the course of three years. The author portrays her true self through these musings. Each poem has been penned soulfully that touch one’s heart chord.
The musings maybe not relatable (to some)but I perceived most of them as life lessons about love relationships and prioritizing them who really matter to them. The poem are deep and takes time to absorb in our minds. I totally appreciate thse deep perspectives on things of the author Ms. Rhythm Kapoor perhaps changing the outlook towards contemporary poetries.
The book is beautifully presented in phases. It has nine phases and each of them dealing with love, self love, nostalgia, old school romances, travelling to name a few.
Now what I found unique is the concept of love is not clichéd but the normal comparisons but rather the poems of love are painted the emotion of been in love, the first time falling in love.
Often people prefer the duality amongst love and the night. Perhaps, the author leaves no stone here as well. This phase, where author relates her love with the moon is not only poetic but also universally pleasing.
Every phase begins with a quote would give you an idea of the upcoming phase.
I really liked the idea of writing a book at a personalized level that many poets really wouldn’t pour their heart out in the book especially if the poet share their real life experiences. I liked the ideology of every phase put that me into thinking for quite a lot of time. Language is simple and expressive. There are beautiful photographs of the author that add a delicate charm to the book.
I feel that had the content section at the beginning of the book after Dedication, I wouldn’t have confused this book regarding the sequence of the book. I guess that’s the only flaw I could. Because according the short quotes are a matter of choice by the author. Overall a beautiful heartfelt read.
I would like to thank the author Rhythm Kapoor for sending me the review copy. I wish her the best for her future endeavors.
