Living Letters by Akash dhanurkar is a a story of doctor Sandeep Pathak professional psychiatrist and a social worker who helps people suffering from depression and anxiety but what happens when the life saviour himself feels low and anxious about his death. It is a short read of only 39 pages but on the pages are filled with life and hope.
The protagonist Dr Sandeep Pathak NGO worker and is also a professional psychiatrist. Police people giving them the reason to smile and live by consuming his patient sorrow and anxiety. This doctor also deals with problem of his own pertaining to the last stage of cancer and heart illness. He misses his own family of wife and children. Hero supported by his friend and his heart doctor Mr Deshmukh.
He who helps others from this illness is seen falling under the category of of not being able to accepting loneliness and sadness in life. He feels that life is moving faster than ever and soon time would sweep him away from this chaotic world. All these thoughts affect him harm him and haunt him causing ill effect towards his health in general. At times when he is alone he is always consumed with thoughts of his death.
Every person who deals with mental illness and anxiety needs to have a strong support system to have their back and give them the Assurance of a brighter side of the life. This significant role is played by Dr Deshmukh he is a true friend who bothered to check on his friend’s whereabouts time and again. Beat for doctor Sandeep personal or professional life doctor Deshmukh had always been presented loyal and helpful in the book. A significant role is also played by Nandita Chavan, a 23 old patient who writes of heartwarming letter about her positive response upon the ‘letter therapy’ introduced by her doctor Sandeep. It actually persuade Sandeep to overcome his fears in his personal life.
The last part is very heartwarming the shivery emotional as it presents in the protagonist’s take upon life regret and satisfaction. Also showcases the importance of main happy with your own company spits my enjoying every minute of your life till your last breath.
This is a short story that would not consume much of your time. This book has a mark of and wouldn’t bored you at any time. The language in the story line is Lucid making it riddles understand the core objective of the book.
